Rome & the Vatican City

The Emperor Hadrian described Rome with these words: “Roma will live forever. If Rome perishes, then it will be the last inhabited place by man.” Taken from this quote, Rome is known as the Eternal City, linked to the traces of its greatness and continuity over the centuries: the architectural work, the artistic preciousness, laws, traditions, the language, and much more.

Walking around the city, on a tour of Rome, you will be enchanted by the beauty and by the charm of the ancient power that echoes down the centuries. The capital of Italy is one of the most beautiful cities in the world, and there are so many things to see. The Rome holiday package ensures you will never miss any of the must-see sights of the city, allowing you to optimize travel time.

One of the main destinations on a tour of Rome is undoubtedly the Colosseum: the symbol of the capital. The building, born as the Flavian Amphitheatre in honour of Emperor Vespasiano of the Flavian dynasty, changed its name because of the statue placed nearby known as the Colossus of the Sun God. The Colosseum was once the scene of battles between gladiators and wild animals or simulation of naval battles.

The Pantheon is another of the most famous Roman monuments. It’s an ancient temple dedicated to all gods, erected by Emperor Hadrian. Its most distinctive feature is the large dome with a diameter of over 43 meters, with an opening (oculus) in the centre from which the light and the rain can penetrate.

The Trevi Fountain is a majestic work dedicated to the sea, which combines baroque and classic style. The fountain is one of the most romantic and spectacular points in Rome.
Piazza Navona, is one of the most appreciated spots by both tourists and locals alike; it is embellished by the Fountain of the Four Rivers, Bernini’s splendid work representing the Ganges, the Nile, the River Plate, and the Danube.
Piazza di Spagna and Scalinata di Trinità dei Monti are the beating heart and the icon of Italian fashion in the world, because of numerous cat walks and fashion shows, yet mostly due to their popularity in numerous films.
The Parco di Villa Borghese is the green heart of Rome and a real open-air museum. Within its six km circumference it contains neoclassical statues, museums, fountains, a small artificial lake, gardens and an amphitheatre.

Once in the Capital, a tour of the Vatican is not to be missed, with the Pope head of the Catholic Church and Europe’s smallest independent state. On our package holidays to the Vatican, we accompany tourists to discover the treasures of this unique area. The Basilica of St. Peter’s, the most important symbol of the Vatican, embraces tourists through the beautiful Bernini’s colonnade. A must is also a visit to the Vatican Museum, an amazing collection of masterpieces by famous artists such as Giotto, Leonardo, Raffaello, Caravaggio and Canova, just to name a few, which see its highest and purest expression in the Sistine Chapel. .
